What Is So Special About The City of Burnaby?

The City of Burnaby, Canada is one of those special places that when you visit it. It is  something you will long remember visiting for a number of special reasons. It is not only the third largest of all cities in British Columbia from a population perspective. But it is a wonderful place to travel to for a short getaway, business trip, or even a family vacation. Burnaby has a little bit of everything to appeal from the youngest to the oldest in age. Burnaby was originally incorporated in 1892 and achieved status as a city officially in 1992.

 

The City of Burnaby offers everything that people are looking for in a place to vacation. If you are seeking diversity in travel, as well as some entertainment and shopping. For those who love parks and lakes a great deal. This city is the ideal place to be. Some of Burnaby’s major parks and waterways are Robert Burnaby Park, Central Park, Burnaby Mountain and Deer Lake to name  only a few.

 

 

 

Some of Burnaby, Canada’s tourist attractions include Burnaby Village Museum & Carousel and Metrotown. Burnaby Village Museum & Carousel sits on ten acres of land and has replicated buildings of a bygone era. These replicated buildings of shops, businesses and homes of a historic period. People dressed in costume greet visitors warmly and conduct demonstrations in the various buildings. There is also a replica of a 1912 CW Parker Carousel. Things to do here include a gift shop and ice cream parlor. Metrotown offers a wide array of things for the visitor from shopping to recreation activities to other accommodations.

Transportation By Sea From The 17th Century

Since the invention of canoes, small boats kayaks etc man had always wanted to transfer huge quantities of materials and other types of goods for trading purposes. This would enable him to create more wealth. Even today, the same principle of transportation follows. The biggest source of trade is the sea route. It is way above the other means of transportation like roads and air. The following are some of the modes of transportation and their evolution by using the sea route:

Small and large boats that use motors or sails for its movement, Apart from smaller versions of transportation like the canoes etc, these categories of boats use a different kind of power. A normal sailboat uses fabrics or sheets of canvas called sails. The wind pushes the sails forward, which propel it forward. In the ancient civilization, the Egyptians used the boats to ship huge granite stones to the location of the pyramids.

The motor boat is a newer invention after the discovery of the diesel and steam engines. Energy from burning the coal is used to heat water and the steam that is generated from it is used to propel the turbines, which in turn propel the propellers. In the turn of the century, motors started getting into use for this purpose of transportation. An electric motor is used for driving the propellers in a motorboat. The use of a propeller is for moving the ship forward through water. A speedboat is the smaller cousin of the motorboat and is very fast in means of transportation.

Military and coast guards who venture in the sea for rescue mission or for defending the country of any intruders normally use these speedboats. Another category of ship is called the steamboat. This is used for passenger transportation for shorter distances. An engine that is powered by steam powers.

Family Travel The Best Way To Bond

The best way to bond with your family is during traveling. Traveling will break the barriers between you and your family which was built due to not spending much time together. If your job does not allow you to spend quality time with your family then you should treat your family with a good and long vacation which will help you pass good time with them.
Traveling to new places is very adventurous and it becomes more special when you are joined with your family. You can explore new traditions and culture which will also teach you new things. Traveling is always fun but no one can enjoy this alone. If your job requires lots of traveling then make it a point not to go alone and take single member of your family along with you so that you can bond with them.

Traveling is made so easy and is fast at the same time. You can reach from one place to another in no time. A trip with family to a place which you always wanted to visit will give you immense satisfaction and happiness. It is always a pleasure to share good moment with your near ones as the occasion is more special when it is shared.

If you cannot or do not want to travel long distances then you can find good places near your city where you can reach much faster and spend a day and two. A break from work is good for everyone ensure that you take one it can also be a small picnic with your family to a place in your city. Having fun with family does not mean you should travel long distances but you can also enjoy with them by traveling short distance like going from one city to another via road is also fun.

Evolution Of Modes Of Transportation By Sea

Over the years that have gone by, people have always wanted to travel from one place to another in short times. People have always tried to devise newer and easier methods of transportation. People in different environments warrant different types of transportation. E.g., people living in coastal areas between islands seek to travel by mode of ship, whereas in landlocked countries they have evolved transportation means by way on land.

Mode of transportation by Boats & ships : This was one of the old ways of transportation i.e. traveling in water. For fishing people learnt to venture out to seas. Boats are smaller crafts, which is used normally for fishing purposes. Ships are the larger variants, which use the engines, and sails that propel them through water. Ships can be used to travel on lakes and seas. Since 70% of the earth’s areas s covered with water, this is a good source of transportation.

Small boats that use paddles : Small flat wooden boats with paddles and oar are used n this type. Oars and paddles are synonyms of each other. A smaller version of a boat is the raft. A simple raft can be made by using the trunks of a tree or small wooden logs. These logs of wood are tied together by using vine leaves in the early times. As for the rafts, they are of the inflatable type. Air can be pumped in when needed and then can be deflated.

Earlier civilizations made small boats called canoes for transportation. These were made from hollow tree trunks. They used a paddle for transportation and maneuvering in the sea. Nowadays these tree trunks are being replaced by fiber glass, an artificial substance made by man. There is another more sleek method of transportation by water, and that is the kayak. This is a slender version of the canoe. It has one or two holes where people can sit and maneuver it. This prevents water from entering the boat. Even if the boat capsizes, it will not sink.

This helps you bond with your extended family as well and gives you an opportunity to spend some time away from your normal life.
