Transportation is a service that is primarily used to transport goods or people from one location to another .From olden days, many types of transportation is being used. Among them, the most common and basic types of transportation are road, rail, air and water.
Roads – This mode of transportation is the oldest and the most used when compared to other modes of transportation In earlier days narrow roads were used as walking path and people used to walk through these roads to reach their destinations. They used to carry goods on their head and transported it from one place to another. When more people started using road as their mode of transportation, they started to widen the roads. Later on the invention of wheels introduced cycles, carts, and other automobiles. Today roads are full with more number of cars, buses and other automobiles, which are considered as the cheap and best mode of transportation by common people.
Rail – Rail transportations came into existence with the invention of steam engine, and this became one of the most comfortable modes of travel for a long distance journey. This made more people to opt for this mode of transportation. Rail transport is also used to transport livestock. The advancement in science and technology has made many improvements in the rail transportation by introducing electric trains and other faster trains, which makes the travel for people easier and safe.
Air – With the invention of hot air balloons, the air transportation started to attain more demands among the people. Aero planes, Gilders, helicopters are some of the common types of aircrafts. This can travel with more speed when compared to other modes of travel.
